Birthday Book Haul

Okay, so as a kid, I loved my birthday. As an adult... not so much. But I figured that because today is my twenty-fifth birthday and I had some babysitting cash, I would treat myself to some books. Yes. You read that right. A twenty-five year old babysitter. I don't work in the summer, so I still babysit/nanny to make some extra cash.

Today's book haul all came from Half Price Books. I went with a list, but they didn't have a single book that I really wanted at the moment, but I found some that were on my TBR list. I grabbed those books so I can get around to reading them. I got all of these for under $55. I guess that's not too bad if you consider that one book is a brand new release and most of them are hardcovers.

Books from today's haul:

  • Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson - This book was chosen for me to read this month for a Goodreads Pick it for Me challenge. My YA Lit professor talked about it all the time, so I added it on Goodreads and kind of forgot about it.
  • The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp - I've been meaning to read this since my friend made me see the movie with her.
  • Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid - I've had my eye on this for a while. I hoped to get an ARC, so I settled for buying it as soon as I could. It seems like a good book to read at the end of the summer.
  • So Much Closer by Susane Colasanti - I thought my sister would like this, so I grabbed it for her to read. It turns out that she already owns it, so it's mine now. I've read Colasanti before, but I don't really remember loving her. I hope this book wows me.
  • Sweet Little Lies by Lauren Conrad - Even though L.A. Candy was thoroughly predictable, I love Lauren Conrad, so I am going to try to finish this series.
  • Persepolis 2 by Marjane Satrapi - Ever since reading Persepolis in my college world literature class, I've been wanting to find and read this. I don't read many graphic novels; I can count the ones I've read on one hand, but Satrapi is worth reading. I hope this book lives up to the first one.
  • Maus II - I haven't read Maus yet, but I plan on it, so I grabbed this hardcover before anyone else could. I guess I should look for Maus in hardcover now. I'm kind of hoping Amazon has a copy of it that way I can just order it when I go to order my September releases.
Well now I've got to find places to put these babies while I rock out to "Happy Birthday" by Altered Images.
