- The Finishing School series by Gail Carriger - I was recently approved to read all three of these on NetGalley, and I'm really looking forward to it.
- The Burn for Burn series by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian - I didn't know these existed until this year, but I have them in my cart on Amazon. As soon as I get some paychecks coming in, they're mine!
- The My Life Next Door series by Huntley Fitzpatrick - I own the first book, and my sister enjoyed it, so I am only waiting until I have some time to read the first one and then wait on the second book.
- The Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin - I've heard nothing but good things about these books. They're a little different from what I typically read, but I'm willing to give them a chance.
- The Fame Game series by Lauren Conrad - I read the first book in her L.A. Candy series, and while I found it very similar to her TV show, The Hills, I want to finish it and move on to this spin-off series.
- The Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith - Umm... It's J.K. Rowling. I don't think I really need to say more. But... I do think that they seem like they'll be great novels and they've been added to my adult fiction TBR list.
- The Lying Game series by Sara Shepard - I saw a few episodes of the TV show, and I liked it, so I want to read these and see what all the hype is about.
- The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis - Okay... so I may have exaggerated when I said I was only going back a few years, but I've never read these! I really want to though.
- A Song of Fire and Ice by George R.R. Martin - I've been wanting to read these for years now, but they always sell out so fast at the used book store. Eventually, I will find them all in hardcover and read them all.
- Millennium by Steig Larsson - I've had these on my shelf for a while. My grandma gave them to me, and I was unsure of them, but I do want to at least give them a try.

Top Ten Tuesday (10)
Top Ten Tuesday (TTT) is an original meme hosted The Broke and Bookish.
This feature was created because they are fond of lists and list
making. It's perfect for me because I also love making lists. Each week,
there is a new topic, and you get to create a Top Ten list based on it! This week's topic is all about book series, in particular new book series that you want to start reading. The girls over at The Broke and Bookish suggested to keep them within the past year or two, but I might go back a few more years...
Ooo! I've heard Gail's books are excellent reads; hope you enjoy them, Erin.
ReplyDeleteYay! I've never read steam punk before so I'm looking forward to them. :)
DeleteI need to read the Burn for Burn books and My Life Next Door too - I haven't heard anything bad about them.
ReplyDeleteI get this knot of dread in my stomach when I think of you reading the Mara Dyer books. I strongly feel that you won't like them. I think I told you this before. I'm scared you'll hate them :P
Burn for Burn looks so good!
DeleteAnd no... I don't think we've ever talked about them before. Why do you think I'd hate them? Now I'm curious.
It does!
DeleteOh, maybe I just thought it once but never mentioned it. I think you might find the characters to be a little immature and not smart enough. Of course, I could be wrong, and I personally did love the books!
Oh no. Immature characters are definitely a reading turn off for me. I might try to see if I can find a free preview of it somewhere first now. I don't want to waste my money on a book I'll only end up hating.
DeleteThat sounds like a good idea. There's a free sample of the first seven chapters here: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/sample/read/9781442421776 if you want to bookmark that for some time.
DeleteOh, awesome! I didn't realize that places posted more than a few chapters, but seven chapters will probably be more than enough for me to see if I like it or not.
DeleteThanks! :)
Nice picks :) Burn for Burn is on my list, too! The premise is really intriguing, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI also really want to read Mara Dyer and the Cormoran Strikes books, though I didn't include them on my TTT (mostly because I have WAY more than 10 series I'm excited to start, haha.)
I didn't know My Life Next Door was a series! I don't see very many contemporary series (which is partially why I included Burn for Burn, just to get some contemporary on my list along with the fantasy lol)
If you're interested, check out My TTT!
Thanks, Connie!
DeleteI thought the Burn for Burn series started out like a contemporary, but I read that it turns supernatural at the end of the first book and for the rest of the series. That's kind of why I want to read it. It seems like a supernatural that I can actually handle instead of some of these over the top supernatural books.
And yeah...My Life Next Door is going to be a series... I think just two books. The next one comes out next year.
OMG MARA DYER. DO IT. IN FACT, THAT SHOULD BE AT THE TOP. Sorry, I get super passionate about Mara. It's some good stuff. Full of sarcasm and brilliant banter. And it's super ambiguous so you never know what's real and what's not. Go for it. It's a good one :D
ReplyDeleteJess @ My Reading Dress
I'll see about it. I was a little skeptical about even including it on the list, and I'm still kind of skeptical. I'll at least get a preview of the first book.
DeleteThe Finishing School trilogy sounds awesome! I love steampunk! I also want to read the Game of Throne series .. . someday.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping they're good! I haven't read steampunk yet, but I'm more than willing to give it a try.
DeleteGreat list! I would agree with you as well, that these should be read! I have the first book from Burn for Burn on my shelf, but I have yet to start reading it. I also really want to read The Mara Dyer series and also Game of Thrones! I have the first one but it is a bit daunting to look at ;)

I think I am going to go ahead and get the box set for the Burn for Burn books. I asked my grandma to look for A Game of Thrones for me, but so far, she hasn't found it. If I tried, I could probably finish that book in three or four days.
