Soundtrack Saturday

Soundtrack Saturday is a book meme that I created shorty after creating my blog. Because of it, I can share my picks for some songs that I think of when I'm reading. I'm sure I'm not the only one who reads a chapter in a book and thinks of a song. And I know I'm not the only one who hears a song and thinks of a book or a certain character. There are so many ways to connect music to books.

I've decided to share my love of books and music with everyone by creating this meme. You don't have to participate every Saturday, but I'll be sharing my posts on Saturdays. If your book has already been turned into a movie, feel free to use the movie's soundtrack as inspiration. I'll be trying to make my own mini-soundtracks (and full book soundtracks) without movie soundtrack influence.

Guidelines:

  • You can use my image or make one of your own
  • Please link me somewhere in your post
  • Create a soundtrack or mini-soundtrack for your chosen book
  • Add your name to the link-up tool so others can find and read your post
  • Leave a comment on my blog post
If you're feeling extra creative, feel free to create album art, too. I'm sure I'll do this somewhere down the road.

Okay, so what do you have to do for a Mini-Soundtrack?

  • Include a song that you think goes well with the beginning of your chosen book
  • Include a song you think fits a character in your chosen book
  • Include a song that represents a relationship in your chosen book
  • Include a song that fits the ending of the book
If you want to make a full book soundtrack, you can choose the number of tracks that you think best fit the book. Usually this includes ten to twelve tracks, but you can always include more.

Each week, there will be a new Soundtrack Saturday playlist on my blog, and other bloggers will have the chance to link up with their own playlists!

  4. I am planning on doing Soundtrack Saturdays for the next four weeks in a run-up to the review for the final book in a series I am reading.

Each week is going to have a playlist for one character from the series, so it'll be a little different than what you've listed here. Hope that is OK! If not, let me know and I can call it something different / remove the link up.

  6. This is a really cool idea! I just started a blog (http://leaf-on-the-breeze.blogspot.ie/) which is for (mostly) book and album reviews so I'll definitely participate in this. As I've just started I don't really know what the protocol is for these things though, so I'd be grateful if you could explain how these book memes work. Your blog looks great, by the way, I just followed you on Bloglovin'.

    1. Awesome!

So bookish memes are actually pretty easy. For mine, all you have to do is post either a four-song book soundtrack or a full book soundtrack (12-14 songs) each Saturday. In your post, just include a link that says that I created a meme, and then you'll add your name to the link up tool (always at the bottom of the post) so others can find it (and possibly follow your blog). Memes are a great way for your readers to get to know you more as person instead of a reviewer.

I'd be honored if you participate, and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask either here or shoot me an email (the link is in the sidebar). :)

  9. Awesome meme, Erin! I've made playlists for books in the past, and I wrote a post on my blog once about a playlist I made for a book (just as an individual post rather than a meme), but now that I know about your meme I'd definitely love to participate! :D
