This week's topic was kind of a toughie for me because there are just so many amazing books that are scheduled to be published during the rest of 2015. But then I sat there and I really thought about it, and I had a hard time coming up with ten. I don't even know how.

Okay... I know I promised to do more Top Ten Tuesday posts this year, but I've failed miserably. I'm trying, but I either run out of time or I have a reviews already scheduled for Tuesdays. I'm working on reworking my entire blog, so more TTT posts should be a thing in the future.

Top Ten Books I Plan To Have In My Beach Bag This Summer or Ten Books I Think Make Great Beach Reads

Okay... I've already read a few new releases or soon-to-be-released books that I think will make amazing beach reads this summer. I also have a few on my list that I want to read while I'm at the beach, so here it goes.

  1. The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler - Ummm, first of all, DIVERSE BOOK ALERT! Secondly, the book is set at the beach, but a non-traditional beach because it's set in the Pacific Northwest. The story is amazing, and you won't want to miss out on this book. (Publishes June 2, 2015)
  2.  Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler - I read Sarah's debut years ago, but I feel like a reread is in order. It's also set at the beach, and I remember learning so much more about a hobby of mine - beach glass collecting - by reading this book.
  3. Open Road Summer by Emery Lord - I read Emery's debut back in January (or was it February), and I just kept thinking that it would be the perfect book to read at the beach because it's summery and it's adorable.
  4. The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord - Of course I'm including another Emery Lord book in my list of beach reads. While this one's not as summery as her debut, it's full of heart, and would definitely make for a heart-warming summer read.
  5. How to Love by Katie Cotugno - I read this one last May, and I loved it! It's a wonderful contemporary YA with mature themes, and it's one of those books that you'll want to finish in one sitting.
  6. Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway - I read this one a while ago, and I loved it. No, I adored it. I can't even think of what to really say because it's adorable, but a book that will leave YA readers thinking. It's set in sunny California, and even features some surfing.
  7. What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick - Now we're starting to get into the books I want to read at the beach, and this one will be a book I'll definitely read this summer. Hello! The cover is two teens on the beach. I'll review it as soon as I read it.
  8. 99 Days by Katie Cotugno - While I haven't read this one yet, I can see myself reading it while I'm at the lake this summer. From what I've read about it, it's got a summery feel, but it also has substance with some heavier-weighted issues.
  9. Emancipated by M.G. Reyes - This is another book I plan on reading this summer (probably while at the lake). The cover features five teens on a beach, and a few of them are even carrying surfboards.
  10. Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid - Road trip books are another beach staple for me because they are usually summery. I'm looking forward to finally reading Mr. Alsaid's debut to see why people love this book.
So what do you think? Are any of these on your TTT list this week? Have you ever read any of these books at the beach? If so, let me know in the comments. Oh, and feel free to link me to your Top Ten Tuesday posts so I can add some more wonderful beach reads to my bag this summer!

Top Ten All-Time Favorite Authors:

  1. J.K. Rowling - Even though I read Harry Potter later in life, I love Jo for these books. If it weren't for them, I probably would have stopped reading YA after my YA class.
  2. Romina Russell - Ms. Russell has only released one book so far, but that one book soared her to the top of my favorite authors list. She's definitely an auto-buy author for me.
  3. Marissa Meyer - Again, I discovered Marissa Meyer later than everyone else, but I love her spin on classic fairy tales. I can't wait to read more from her.
  4. Veronica Roth - So I feel like one of the very few people who loved all three books in the Divergent trilogy, but I did. I cannot wait to get my hands on Veronica's upcoming book.
  5. Emery Lord - Emery is making a name for herself in contemporary YA, and she deserves her spot on my list. I love how she writes about friendship, family, and love.
  6. Kiera Cass - Kiera and I had a rocky start, but I now love her work. I'm eagerly waiting for The Heir to get here to see how she takes on a new character in an already established fictional world.
  7. Rainbow Rowell - I love that Rainbow flawlessly writes about teens and adults because I love reading about both teens and adults. I can't wait to read even more from her, including Carry On because I'm excited to see her write through the eyes of one of her characters.
  8. Stephanie Perkins - Stephanie is pretty much one of the queens of YA romance, and I adored all three Anna and the French Kiss companion books.
  9. Lauren Oliver - I found Lauren by surprise when I won a copy of Before I Fall from Goodreads. I loved it and then went on to devour even more of her books.
  10. Gayle Forman - I've only read two books by Ms. Forman, but they really surprised me because of how amazing they truly are. I have more of her books that I will be reading in the future.

Top Ten Characters I'd Like To Check In With:

  1. Hermione Granger (Harry Potter) - Do I really need to explain this one? She's probably my most favorite literary character ever, and the updates that Rowling gives us just aren't enough for me.
  2. Alice Franklin (The Truth About Alice) - Jennifer Mathieu created an interesting character in her debut novel, and I kind of want to know more about her life after all of the bullying and harassment.
  3. Dee/Lilah Montgomery (Open Road Summer) - Obviously I loved Reagan's story, but I feel like there is so much more to learn about Dee's life as herself and as her country superstar alter-ego.
  4. Eleanor Douglas (Eleanor & Park) - I'm sure that everyone wants to know what happened to Eleanor. I just want to know that she's okay. I don't even care if she and Park didn't end up together; I just want to make sure that she was able to get the help she needed.
  5. Lena Haloway (Delirium) - Okay... so I might be one of the few people who loved how Lauren Oliver ended her Delirium trilogy, but I'd want to check in on Lena a few years later.
  6. Charlie (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) - Charlie is so close to my heart, and he's the character who really made me fall in love with YA. Of course I'd want to check in on him and see how he's doing after realizing everything that he went through as a child.
  7. Molly Weasley (Harry Potter) - Most loving and fierce mother ever? Umm, YES! I think it would be a great experience to see how Molly is after everything that she's been through. Oh, and can you imagine how great of a grandmother she'd be?
  8. Anna Oliphant (Anna and the French Kiss series) - I really enjoyed reading about Anna and Étienne St. Clair and their beautiful love affair. Obviously I'd love to check in on both of them after Isla.
  9. Greg Gaines (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) - I loved Greg's sense of humor and pretty much everything about him. I'd love a chance to see him a few months or even a few years after the book concludes to see how he's doing.
  10. Auggie Pullman (Wonder) - I loved Auggie! He's just a sweet character with such a good heart. I'd love to see him as a teenager and see how he adapts to high school.

Ten Books I Recently Added to My TBR:

So I have a mix of released and upcoming books for this week's Top Ten Tuesday. Some of these are books that have been getting a lot of attention lately, so I'm very interested in them (The Orphan Queen, We All Looked Up, Mosquitoland, The Wrong Side of Right), and some are books that I am just very interested in reading (and soon). I'm also curious about the similarities in We All Looked Up and All We Have Is Now, so I will probably read those two back to back when the latter is released.

Please don't hate me... this is my first TTT since January! I've really been meaning to participate more often. I just had so many ARCs to read, and since I post ARC reviews a week before the book is released, I felt like I'd be overloading you with posts.

Now... it's time to list those books!

Top Ten Books On My Spring TBR List:

I used this list to compile my choices for this week's TTT. These are the books that I really want to read this spring, but realistically, I know I will probably only get to half of them. I still have winter releases to get to!
I do have ARCs for a few of these titles (and other June titles), so look out for reviews.
  1. The Heir by Kiera Cass
  2. Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver
  3. The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord
  4. P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han
  5. The Secrets We Keep by Trisha Leaver
  6. 99 Days by Katie Cotugno
  7. Love, Fortunes, and Other Disasters by Kimberly Karalius
  8. Immaculate by Katelyn Detweiler
  9. Things We Know By Heart by Jessi Kirby
  10. Devoted by Jennifer Mathieu

Ten Books I'd Love to Read With My Book Club If I Had A Book Club:

It's no secret that fantasy and adventure novels are some of my least read books. I sometimes get distracted when I'm reading them, and that reading them with a group would help encourage me to want to read more in this genre. I've read and loved some of these books, but others scare me. Still I want to get to a place where I feel completely comfortable opening a title like one of these on my own.

Top Ten 2014 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn't Get To

I own a few of the books in the above picture, and I'm going to read those ones first (The Kiss of Deception and What I thought Was True). Some of them are books are ones that I wanted to buy but never did because of book buying ban. I'll definitely be reading and reviewing in most of these in 2015, especially because there are some sequels coming out this year.

So what are the top ten 2014 books that you wanted to read but didn't get to? As always, feel free to let me know in the comments. Happy reading!

I'll admit that I had a really hard time creating this Top Ten Tuesday post. When I looked through the lists on Goodreads, I just found that a lot of the books aren't ones that I'd want to read. Oh, and I kind of cheated because I read an ARC of Vivian Apple already, but it's definitely a book that I'd recommend to other people.

As always, feel free to let me know what books are on your Top Ten Tuesday list! Happy reading!
