Soundtrack Saturday (26)

Welcome back to Soundtrack Saturday, everyone! As you may know, Soundtrack Saturday is a feature original to The Hardcover Lover that showcases the book soundtracks that I make.
As with all bookish memes, there are a few steps to follow to help you create your own Soundtrack Saturday post:
  • Choose a book that you've read
  • Create a mini (four songs) or full soundtrack (ten-fifteen songs) for that book based on characters and plot details
    • For more detailed instructions, please visit the meme's homepage.
  • Please credit me somewhere in your post
    • It can be as simple as "Soundtrack Saturday was created by Erin at The Hardcover Lover."
  • Leave a comment on my blog post if you enjoy the feature
  • Add your name to the link-up tool at the bottom of the post

This week's Soundtrack Saturday is a playlist based on Jennifer Niven's YA debut, All the Bright Places. You might remember that I read and reviewed this one a few weeks ago, and while it's not a favorite of mine, it has a lot of moments that these songs fit into perfectly.

  2. LOVE your soundtrack, Erin <3 I'm not sure if you're aware, but Jennifer Niven also has two amazing soundtracks for ATBP but I kind of seem to prefer yours :) Great job!

I'M SO CONFUSED, HOW DID I NOT HAVE ANY OF THESE SONGS ON MY OWN ATBP PLAYLIST? UNACCEPTABLE.

Okay, the number one ATBP song is Remember by Gabriel Mann and the cover of Somewhere Only We Know by Lily Allen. Definitely listen to those two!! Right after another. :D

Now onto your playlist, oh my gosh, I love it. I adore Kelly, she's my favorite. <3 Beautiful Disaster has been one of my favorite songs of hers since middle school. I love that Demi, Christina, and The Smiths are on here too.

    Great playlist Erin!

  5. Ha, we've done the same book this week! Haven't got any songs in common, but I really like your choices. Mine's more based on what I listened to when I was reading it, a lot just seemed appropriate.

Can't see a link thing so I'll just leave it here:

  6. OMG. This is the first time in Soundtrack Saturday history that someone has done the same book as me! AWARDS ALL AROUND!

I'll definitely head over right now! I can't wait to see what you picked. :)

  7. P.S. I'll add your link later this afternoon. For some reason, the link up decided to start at noon, even when I programed it to go up at midnight EST.

  8. I HAVE NO IDEA, AMBER. NO IDEA!

I've never heard of either of those songs, but I will listen to them ASAP! I like Lily Allen, so I'm sure I'll like her song. :)

Thanks, Amber! I know you love Kelly! I actually thought of you when I included both of those songs because you are a fan of both Kelly and a super fan of ATBP. This soundtrack was actually fun for me because I have an affectionate obsession with sad songs.

  9. Thank you, Noelia! So many people have cried while reading this book. I did a little too.

  10. Thank you, Rhea! That's so kind of you! :)

I didn't know she had two soundtracks! I typically avoid looking them up so I can come up with the playlists on my own, but I'll have to find them and see if she and I have anything in common.

  11. Yes, Alex! You need to read it! Even though it's not one of my favorites, it's still a really good book, and it's worth the read. (Just make sure you have tissues nearby.)

    Thanks! I love music. :)

IT'S JUST STRANGE BECAUSE I KNOW MOST OF THESE SONGS.

Ah, you should definitely listen to them when you can! Somewhere Only We Know is originally by Keane but Lily's version is super amazing and fits ATBP so well. As does Hear You Me by Jimmy Eat World. </3

You're welcome! Aw, really!? I like being thought of! I'm a super fan of Kelly too. Haha (like major). Yay, I'm glad it was fun for you. I love sad songs too! When I make book playlists, I make sure there's a good amount of sad songs in them. :D (If required, I mean)

  13. WELL THAT MEANS THAT WE WERE EITHER DESTINED TO BE FRIENDS OR WE JUST LIKE THE SAME MUSIC. LOL

OMG. I love "Hear You Me" by Jimmy Eat World. It's one of my top played songs on my iTunes, but I thought I used it for a few books, so I gave it a break. But it would fit it. I might go and edit this post just to include it now.

Kelly is my girl. Girl can do no wrong in my book! I was at the Sprint store the other day, and I BLASTED her music on the Beats. lol

    I THINK IT'S BOTH!

HEAR YOU ME IS AMAZING. I've only ever used it for this playlist, haha.

I stuck Hear You Me after So Far Away (by Avenged Sevenfold), then On The Way Down (by Ryan Cabrera), and then Somewhere Only We Know and Remember at the very end.

Remember made my playlist twice. Haha.

I'm going to go cry now thinking about how I put Hear You Me after So Far Away because of the lyrics in So Far Away and Hear You Me make me so sad now.....

You should totally edit the post. :D

Kelly is freaking amazing. I mean granted, this latest album wasn't her best effort, but come on, still good. Tightrope<3 Someone<3 Piece By Piece<3 So good. I blast her everywhere, ha. Well, you know, not EVERYWHERE...

  15. ME TOO! TOTALLY BOTH!

"Hear You Me" makes everything for me. It's just such a good song. "On the Way Down!" OMG. I was singing that like crazy the other day. I used to love Ryan so freaking much.

I am definitely going to edit the post.

You know what's funny... the other day, my sister and I were driving, and "Heartbeat Song" was on one radio station, but "Since You've Been Gone" was on another. We totally went with "SYBG" and blasted it. I think Stronger might be my favorite album of hers. It was just perfection at its finest.

    YES, WE'VE FIGURED IT OUT.

Hear You Me is everything. It's so so so good. I loved On The Way Down but I was never super into Ryan Cabrera aside from that and "True".

Good! Definitely edit the post. My playlist for this book was 35 songs. Hahahah.....

That is funny. I would've gone with SYBG too since, I mean, it's SYBG. I was really hoping for an SYBG-esque song on the new album and the closet there was is....Heartbeat Song. Which doesn't have the same sound or emotion. *sigh* Ooh, my favorite's Breakaway followed by My December.

  17. FINALLY! THE MYSTERY IS SOLVED. NOW SOMEONE GO GET SOME SCOOBY SNACKS.

OMG. I loved him. I was really big into Ashlee Simpson's reality show, and I just loved him. He had some good songs and he seemed like a pretty chill dude.

35 SONGS?! OMG. I try to keep mine to 15 or less because if I don't, I could very well end up with an 80 song playlist.

I'm listening to that song right now. It's probably my favorite Kelly Clarkson song, and it reminds me of all the fun I had when I was a little dork. I think that was the summer before I went into seventh or eighth grade. I don't even remember.

No - "Heartbeat Song" is cute, but it gets annoying fast. My second favorite from Breakaway was "You Found Me." "Since U Been Gone" just takes the cake for me. lol.

  18. Amber (@ YA Indulgences)May 9, 2015 at 10:33 AM

    Yes.<3

I always forget he and Ashlee were together but then I remembered hearing her Boyfriend song last week and heard The Veronicas "Revenge Is Sweeter (Than You Ever Were) which reminded me of Ryan. (Since, one of the Veronicas dated Ryan and then Ashlee did or something, I don't know...).

Haha, yes, Breakaway was in my middle school era too. <3 It got so much play. It still does.

Aw, I like Heartbeat Song, it was annoying for me before the album came out, but with the music video for it, I really love it now. My favorites from Breakaway were Because Of You, You Found Me, Beautiful Disaster, Hear Me and I Hate Myself (For Losing You).

    ReplyDelete
  19. OMG. I remember all that drama now that you mention it. Gosh, that was so so so long ago.

It gets a lot of play for me too. I'm so upset because somewhere along the way, I lost my physical copy of Breakaway, and I can't find it anywhere. :'(

I like "Heartbeat Song," but for a while, I swear that it and "Style" by Taylor Swift were on all the time. It's like the radio stations call each other and tell each other when to play them at non-competing times so everyone will listen to them.

Did you ever hear the acoustic performance of "Beautiful Disaster?" I had it on one of my Kelly CDs, and I cannot find it for the life of me. It's such a gorgeous version!

It was a ridiculously long time ago, it was like ten years ago, omg.

Aw! :( I've bought Breakaway three times now, everytime after I lost it I'd eventually get it again. <3

I don't listen to the radio a whole lot so I'm good on the Heartbeat front. :) Haha " It's like the radio stations call each other and tell each other when to play them at non-competing times so everyone will listen to them."

Acoustic? Do you mean her live performance she did with the piano on Breakaway? The original track was on Thankful but it's not acoustic. I love that song so much.

    ReplyDelete
  21. OMG. Was it? I feel like it was longer than that because I was in ninth grade ten years ago. Who knows though?

You lost it that many times? At least now I have it on iTunes where I really *can't* lose it.

Oh man. I usually listen to the radio when I'm driving to or from work, unless I plug my iPod in.

Maybe that was it. I don't know. All I know is that I loved it.
