Gauri, the princess of Bharata, has been taken as a prisoner of war by her kingdom’s enemies. Faced with a future of exile and scorn, Gauri has nothing left to lose. Unsatisfied with becoming a mere puppet king, Vikram offers Gauri a chance to win back her kingdom in exchange for her battle prowess. Together, they’ll have to set aside their differences and team up to win the Tournament of Wishes—a competition held in a mythical city where the Lord of Wealth promises a wish to the victor.

Reaching the tournament is just the beginning. Once they arrive, danger takes on new shapes: poisonous courtesans and mischievous story birds, a feast of fears and twisted fairy revels.

Every which way they turn new trials will test their wit and strength. But what Gauri and Vikram will soon discover is that there’s nothing more dangerous than what they most desire.

Title: Beauty and the Beast: Lost in a Book
Author: Jennifer Donnelly
Publisher: Disney Press
Publication Date: January 31, 2017
Source: Purchased

An original addition to the beloved Beauty and the Beast fairy tale, Lost in a Book follows the lonely, bookish Belle as she finds an enchanted book in the Beast’s library called Nevermore that carries her into a glittering new world. There, Belle is befriended by a mysterious countess who offers her the life she’s always dreamed of.

But Nevermore is not what it seems, and the more time Belle spends there, the harder it is to leave. Good stories take hold of us and never let us go, and once Belle becomes lost in this book, she may never find her way out again.

This deluxe hardcover novel expands upon the beautiful story and world seen in the new Walt Disney Studios' film, Beauty and the Beast.

For the past two years, I've participated in The Debut Author Challenge, and I'm back at it again this year!

In case you're not familiar with the challenge, here are some of the details:

Challenge Objectives:
  • To introduce readers to this year’s wonderful group of debut authors.
  • To challenge readers to read 12 or more (or less! It’s up to you!) middle grade, young adult, and new adult debuts this year.
I've loved participating in the past, and I'm sure that I'll be enjoying it this year. This challenge is a wonderful way to introduce readers to new and emerging authors, and I've had so much fun with it. I've even discovered a few new favorite authors because of this challenge.

Graphic made by The Bookish Khaleesi

Hey, everyone! I don't know about you, but with less than a week until Beauty and the Beast opens in theaters, I'm freaking out! I've already bought my tickets for Thursday night, and I cannot wait until this gets here. The animated version was my favorite movie during my childhood, and I've always felt like I've identified most with Belle. (Now I feel like I'm a combination of Belle and Elsa, but Belle is my favorite!)

Like all book tags, this one comes with a few rules:

So you're probably thinking to yourself, "Erin, shouldn't you have posted about reading challenges two or three months ago?" The answer to that would be yes, but I was in a blogging funk, so be prepared for a few challenges to be posted during the next few days.

The first challenge I'm accepting for 2017 is the 2017 Netflix and Books Challenge. This challenge is hosted by two of my friends and favorite bloggers, Lauren from Bookmark Lit and Erica from Novel Ink.

Book Review: The Princess Diarist

No comments :
Title: The Princess Diarist
Author: Carrie Fisher
Publisher: Blue Rider Press
Publication Date: October 18, 2016
Source: Purchased

The Princess Diarist is Carrie Fisher’s intimate, hilarious and revealing recollection of what happened behind the scenes on one of the most famous film sets of all time, the first Star Wars movie.

When Carrie Fisher recently discovered the journals she kept during the filming of the first Star Wars movie, she was astonished to see what they had preserved—plaintive love poems, unbridled musings with youthful naiveté, and a vulnerability that she barely recognized. Today, her fame as an author, actress, and pop-culture icon is indisputable, but in 1977, Carrie Fisher was just a (sort-of) regular teenager.

With these excerpts from her handwritten notebooks, The Princess Diarist is Fisher’s intimate and revealing recollection of what happened on one of the most famous film sets of all time—and what developed behind the scenes. And today, as she reprises her most iconic role for the latest Star Wars trilogy, Fisher also ponders the joys and insanity of celebrity, and the absurdity of a life spawned by Hollywood royalty, only to be surpassed by her own outer-space royalty. Laugh-out-loud hilarious and endlessly quotable, The Princess Diarist brims with the candor and introspection of a diary while offering shrewd insight into the type of stardom that few will ever experience.
