2016 Love-A-Thon: Introduction Post

Hey, everyone! Welcome to my first post for the 2016 Love-a-Thon!

The 2016 Love-a-Thon is hosted by Alexa from Alexa Loves Books, Cee from The Novel Hermit, Hazel from Stay Bookish, and Mel from The Daily Prophecy. Over the next two days, book bloggers from all over the world will be participating in the event. There will be Twitter chats, challenges, and commenting sprees to spread love and positivity in our little corner of the Internet.

The lovely ladies hosting The Love-a-Thon know that we don't all know every single book blogger out there! That's why the first post is a questionnaire!

If this is your first time finding me or my little book blog, take a few minutes to get to know me and my bookish habits.

The many faces of me...
  1. What’s your name?
    Erin
  2. Where in the world are you blogging from?
Pittsburgh, PA, USA. It's a cool, little city, and a few awesome YA books are set here.
  3. How did you get into blogging in the first place?
I've come a long way to get to The Hardcover Lover. I've microblogged on Tumblr in the past (and I still do from time to time). I've had blogs for sports, musicians, and all sorts of other things on there.
I also had an education blog. We had to create one for my Writing for Digital Media class. As per the assignment, we had to blog twice a week, and I started exploring YA themes on there. (Just don't ask me the URL because I don't remember it!)
As far as book blogging goes, I was posting a lot of reviews on Goodreads and Amazon. After a few authors contacted me for reviews, I thought about finding a way to reach more people with my thoughts. I originally wanted to go with Tumblr for book blogging, but I realized that if I did create a book blog, it would need to be accessible to everyone. I played around with Blogger for a few days before finally opening The Hardcover Lover.
  4. How did you come up with your blog name?
If you ever come to my house and see my books, you'll notice that the majority of them (about 95%) are hardcovers. I guess that all started when my grandma started buying me books because she wanted them to last longer. I just liked the look and feel of a hardcover book, and they are definitely my favorite.
When I started toying around with names, I put the two words "hardcover" and "lover" together, and I just liked the way they rolled off my tongue.
  5. What genre do you read and review the most on your blog?
I read a lot of YA contemporary, but in the past few months, I've been reading and reviewing a lot more science fiction.
  6. What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews?
I participate in a few weekly memes that are hosted by other bloggers - Top Ten Tuesday and Waiting on Wednesday.
  7. Best blogging experience so far?
I don't know if this exactly counts as a blogging experience, but it's a direct result of blogging... When I got my ARC of Romina Russell's Wandering Star, I noticed my name in the acknowledgements. That was such a surreal experience, and it's one that I know I'll remember for the rest of my life.
  8. Favorite thing about the blogging community?
I like how passionate we are. People get so excited over everything, and it's so nice to see people go on and on about their favorite books and authors.
  9. Name the 5 books you’re most excited for this 2016!
    Black Moon by Romina Russell
    The Crown by Kiera Cass
When We Collided by Emery Lord
Summer Days and Summer Nights edited by Stephanie Perkins
The Leaving Season by Cat Jordan
  10. Name the 5 books you want to read this 2016 that you didn’t get to in previous years!
The Wrath and The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
    #Scandal by Sarah Ockler
The Wicked Will Rise by Danielle Paige
    Rooms by Lauren Oliver
    Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver
  11. What’s an underrated book or series that you think everyone should read?
Hmmmmm... I don't even know! This is so hard because I feel like every time I read an underrated book, it gets a movie deal or spikes in popularity.
  12. Which book boy or girl would be your book BFF?
Hermione Granger. I feel like we're similar enough to have stimulating conversations but different enough to never be bored.
  13. Which book boy or girl would be your book boyfriend/girlfriend?
Mathias from Romina Russell's Zodiac series.
  14. Who would you recruit for your apocalypse squad (5 characters max)
Psh! I'd be dead in a minute so there's really no use in recruiting, but I think I'd want the ladies of The Lunar Chronicles (Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter) in my squad.
  15. Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies or interests?
    I'm an English teacher.
I also like sewing, even though I haven't done it in so long! I also enjoy cross-stitching. I also enjoy camping, and when I'm camping, I can be found at the beach looking for beach glass.
  16. Apart from book shopping, what else do you like shopping for?
I love shopping for stationary and paper goods. I also have an obsession with skinny jeans, and I add a few pairs to my wardrobe every few months.
  17. At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song – and it’s your song. What song would be playing?
Oh gosh! It's probably something, anything by Taylor Swift.
  18. Pick out either a book you want turned into a film/TV show, or a film/TV show you want turned into a book.
I'd want The Breakfast Club turned into a book.
  19. What would your dream library look like?
If we're talking fantasy - it would look exactly like the Beast's library in Beauty and the Beast. Realistically, I think I'd want light colored walls, lots of lighting, a book nook and day bed, and mahogany bookshelves. It would be huge!
  20. Author you want to meet and sit down to tea with?
    J.K. Rowling
