Personal Post: Post-COVID-19

 Hey, everyone!

I know it's been a while, but right after my last post, I ended up getting a full time job, and I needed my extra time to devote to grad school. I've only got one class left, and I graduate in December! EEEEEP!

Anyway, today is more of a personal post, and I really hope no one gets offended by it.

Hey, there... It's Been a While

Hey, everyone! I just wanted to pop in and tell you that I'm alive! I kind of took a really long and unannounced hiatus from blogging (and reading...).

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello, and to tell you to look out for some sporadic posts as I've just finished two books. (Yay me!)

I realize I don't exactly have to explain my absence from the book blogging world, but a lot has happened during the past year or so. The biggest thing was me going back to school! You're reading a post from a girl who just finished her first year of graduate school with a 4.0! I'm so giddy! I'll be taking two classes over the summer, and if all goes well, I'm hoping to graduate by December of 2020. It takes a while to get through school when you're working as much as I am.

Happy Belated New Year, everyone!

Yeah... it's a typical Erin move for me to wish you all a happy new year almost ten days into the new year. What can I say? I'm a procrastinator. I'm working on that!

Anyway, let's get to talking about how I'm going to handle reading and blogging this year. Shall we?

Hey, Erin! Where Have You Been?

Hi, everyone!

I know I haven't blogged or checked in with you for  a while, but for good reason. In August, I started a long-term teaching assignment. I was extremely busy reading and planning lessons for seventh graders, and boy... what an experience it was!

While I'm out of the classroom now, I'm hoping to find something long-term again. I've gone on three interviews in the past three weeks, and I'm finding a lot more opportunity now that I have that big experience on my resume. Who knows... next year might be the year I finally have my own classroom.

For now, I'm hoping to apply for more jobs, get substitute days in, start subbing at more schools, and just improve my resume. I'm also hoping to start reviewing again soon.

Hey, Erin! Where Have You Been?

I've been a bad book blogger lately because I've been neglecting my tiny, little blog and surviving off scheduled posts. While I didn't mean to take a hiatus, the break was definitley needed, but I feel like I need to do some explaining as to why I kind of just up and left.

Things haven't been great for me lately. It seems like everything hit me like a ton of bricks, and honestly, life is still throwing those bricks at me. Some of the bricks were good, but a lot of them have been bad, and I'm still trying to recover from them. But hey, I guess that's life, right?

So I Didn't Go to Baltimore...

Hey, everyone, and Happy Tuesday! I know last week, I told you that I'd be going to Baltimore over the weekend with my friend Anna for a friend's birthday party. Well... that didn't happen!

On Thursday night, Anna and I looked at the weather, and at that point, it looked like Hurricane Joaquin was headed straight up the east coast and for Baltimore. We decided not to risk it as many states were already in a state of emergency. Instead, we stayed home and had a mini staycation with Anna's mom.

A Letter to the Author: Dear Julie Murphy

Wow! Julie, you are a rock star to me. There's really no other way to put it. I can't even begin to describe all the emotions that I'm feeling right now, but I needed to put them into words.

By now, I've read your two books - Side Effects May Vary and Dumplin', and I've got to say that I'm in love with how you write. Your characters are realistic, flawed, and true. That's something that I love seeing when I read a YA book. It just makes the whole book feel whole, and you're nailing it.
