Mini Review: "The Lady and the Fox"
The second story in the anthology My True Love Gave to Me is called "The Lady and the Fox," and it was written by YA author Kelly Link. This short story introduced me to Ms. Link, whom I'd never heard of before picking up this book.
While I wasn't completely stunned by "The Lady and the Fox," but I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed Link's writing style and the magical realism that she brings to life. It's a bit mysterious, and she never really reveals everything. It kept me reading because I wanted to know more about Daniel, Miranda, and everyone involved in their lives.
Ms. Link brings her characters to life by bringing in a lot of human emotion. There were times when I was sad, there were times when I smiled, and there times when I felt empathy for one of the main characters, Miranda.
While I enjoyed "The Lady and the Fox," I wouldn't say that it was one of my favorite stories in the book. I felt like something was missing from the story to really wow me.
