Mini Review: "Polaris is Where You'll Find Me"
Jenny Han has quickly become one of my favorite YA authors. I adored To All the Boys I've Loved Before and P.S. I Still Love You. I also really liked her work in the Burn for Burn series. I was very glad when I read "Polaris is Where You'll Find Me" because it did not disappoint. It brought warm Christmas feelings, and it was exactly what I needed.
The story line of "Polaris is Where You'll Find Me" is a bit similar to the movie Elf because the main character, Natalie, was orphaned as a baby. She's brought to the North Pole, and Santa raises her. Even though the story is very similar to a movie that is so popular, Han keeps it original in many different ways.
I was wowed and surprised by all the detail in this book, and everything in it proves that Ms. Han is definitely one of YA's queens. Jenny Han includes so many different cultural traditions in so few pages, and she even includes bits of different languages.
"Polaris is
Where You'll Find Me" is a story that the inner child in you will love
for it's nostalgic Christmas feel. I love the fantasy feel of the story, and I can
only hope that this will one day become a Christmas special.
Jenny Han is the author of the New York Times bestselling Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy, co-author of the Burn for Burn trilogy, and most recently, To All the Boys I've Loved Before and P.S. I Still Love You. She is also the author of Shug and Clara Lee and the Apple Pie Dream. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
