I don't do recaps often on The Hardcover Lover, but sometimes, I just feel the urge to talk about the weird bookish events I attend. Because I went to a Half Price Books Clearance Sale yesterday, I thought it would be fun to share a little bit about my experience and just tell you all a little bit about it if you haven't been to one.
The Half Price Books Clearance Sale
Most of you know that Half Price Books is one of my favorite bookstores. I love that there are used copies of books that are half price or less, and I love that they have recently started stocking new releases. Basically, it's my favorite book store because there aren't a lot of indies near me.
I went to my local Half Price Books store a few weeks ago to browse, and when I made my purchase, the cashier put a flyer for the Half Price Books Clearance Sale in my bag. I'd heard of their clearance sales before, but I never really paid attention to see if any were ever happening near me. Naturally, I decided that I wanted to go, so I waited patiently for the days of the sale.
My mom and I decided to go the morning of the last day, and it was pretty much a last minute decision. We left with just enough time to get there to be one of the first two hundred people in line. (The first two hundred people in the doors got a free tote bag.)
Honestly, I wish I would have done a little more research before going because it wasn't the most fun experience. But I did find a few books, bookmarks, and DVDs, including a YA book that I've never heard of that looks promising.
Let's Break it Down
So... Would I go again? Honestly, I'm not sure. I enjoyed being there, and the atmosphere of the place (so many people were just kind to one another), but the lack of organization really made it frustrating for this bookworm. However, I did end up taking my 15% off coupon and going to my store later that day and getting a few more books, which brought my total to six for yesterday.
Have you ever been to a Half Price Books Clearance Sale? What did you think of it? Did you go back or just go once? Feel free to let me know in the comments so we can get to talking about our book buying habits and saving money.
