What I'm Waiting On...
Author: Katelyn Detweiler
Publisher: Viking Children's
Publication Date: May 26, 2015
Mina is seventeen. A virgin. And pregnant.
Mina is top of her class, girlfriend to the most ambitious guy in school, able to reason and study her way through anything. But when she suddenly finds herself pregnant—despite having never had sex—her orderly world collapses. Almost nobody believes Mina’s claims of virginity. Her father assumes that her boyfriend is responsible; her boyfriend believes she must have cheated on him. As news of Mina’s story spreads, there are those who brand her a liar. There are those who brand her a heretic. And there are those who believe that miracles are possible—and that Mina’s unborn child could be the greatest miracle of all.

Why I'm Waiting...
It's no lie that I am drawn to contemporary books with insane synopses, and Immaculate definitely falls into that category. Umm, a pregnant virgin? Sign me up for the waiting list for this book!
I'm sure this book will explore some religious themes, and while I normally don't read books like that, I'm spreading my wings and giving more books a chance this year. Besides, everybody knows what it's like to feel insecure in high school, and I'm sure that somehow, I'll be able to relate to and connect with Mina.
What Are You Waiting On...
Now I want to hear from you! Are you also waiting on Detweiler's Immaculate or do you have your eyes set on another book? As always, feel free to let me know in the comments or leave the link to your own Waiting on Wednesday post! I'd love to see what everyone is waiting to read.
Wow! I hadn't heard of this one and I definitely am intrigued. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!! XD I'll be going to goodreads to add this one. xD
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!
I'm avoiding this one for now, since like you said it seems like there will be a lot of religious issues. I don't handle that very well in my books, but I'm waiting for the reviews to come in before making my final decision!
ReplyDeleteI'm extremely excited for this one as well! I'm hoping that the religious aspects of this one make sense. And yes, that we'll both be able to connect with the main character.

I thought about avoiding it for a long time, but the more I thought about it, the more open to it I became. I typically avoid books with religious aspects because I'm not a religious person, but I'm very respectful, and the plot of this one just seemed too wild to pass up.
ReplyDeleteI'll let you know if I end up enjoying it.
I'm hoping they make sense too! If not, I know I won't like it. If they do, it could make for a really enjoyable read.
ReplyDeleteI hope you really enjoy it, Aimee! :)
P.S. Cait - I got your comment, but Blogger must have eaten it. :( I hope you like the book! :)
ReplyDeleteHoly crud! This book seems great. The mystery of how the child was first made is probably what made me really want to read this book now. Thank you for sharing!

Right? That's why I was so interested in that show Jane the Virgin at first, but my enthusiasm for that died off after one episode. I'm hoping this is much better.
ReplyDeletePregnant virgin? You just know that there will be a lot of hype about this one! I'll have to give it a read once it comes out. I also normally don't read books with religious aspects to them, but this one seems interesting. Can't wait to see what you think! :)
ReplyDeleteRight? I'm surprised that I haven't seen a lot of hype yet because it just seems like one of those books that will get everyone talking.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope that you do. ;)
