Griffin Teen and Fierce Reads Present YA March Madness 2016: My Predictions v. The Final Outcome

Way back in the beginning of March, I posted about YA March Madness hosted by Griffin Teen and Fierce Reads. I'm sure that many of you quickly figured out that it was inspired by college basketball and March Madness, but YA readers were voting on their favorite books.

I shared the blank bracket, which featured titles from both publishers and their imprints. I also took it a step further and filled out a bracket with my predictions. Today, I'm here to share the final results and compare them to my predictions.

The Final Results

The Final Four

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Winter by Marissa Meyer
Blood Will Tell by April Henry
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

After a grueling month of voting, YA readers chose their Final Four books. Not surprisingly, two of my picks for the Final Four actually made the Final Four. Those books were Fangirl and Winter.

Looking back, I probably shouldn't have eliminated Six of Crows when I did, and I did have second thoughts about that one. I had a gut feeling that it would edge out Firewalker, but for some reason, I really just thought Fairest would make it to the end. Oh well.

Last Two Standing

Winter by Marissa Meyer
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

I predicted that both of these books would make it to the final round. Well... I didn't really predict it; I kind of knew that they would because they are two of the most hyped books in YA. It seems like anyone who reads YA has read them at least once or has them on their TBR!

Now I want to know what you were up to during YA March Madness! Did you vote in YA March Madness? Did you make a bracket? Did you follow along on Twitter just to see what it was? Let me know in the comments, and feel free to share any posts about YA March Madness or any of the books included on the bracket!
