Waiting on Wednesday (21)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly bookish meme created and hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights the upcoming releases that bloggers and readers are currently anticipating.

It's very easy to participate in the meme. All you need to do is make a post about an upcoming release that you're waiting on, make sure you've linked back to Breaking the Spine, and then add your name to the link-up tool.

What I'm Waiting On...

Title: Material Girls
Author: Elaine Dimopoulos
Publisher: HMH Books for Young Readers
Publication Date: May 5, 2015
In Marla Klein and Ivy Wilde’s world, teens are the gatekeepers of culture. A top fashion label employs sixteen-year-old Marla to dictate hot new clothing trends, while Ivy, a teen pop star, popularizes the garments that Marla approves. Both girls are pawns in a calculated but seductive system of corporate control, and both begin to question their world’s aggressive levels of consumption. Will their new “eco-chic” trend subversively resist and overturn the industry that controls every part of their lives?
Smart, provocative, and entertaining, this thrilling page-turner for teens questions the cult like mentality of fame and fashion. Are you in or are you out?

Why I'm Waiting...

Another thing my readers may not know about me is that while I am probably a walking fashion disaster and someone that really could have benefited from being on What Not to Wear, I love fashion. I love browsing websites to look for new trends, and I've even thought about making my own inspiration scrapbook. I guess it all stems from me taking sewing all through high school.

So... combine fashion and dystopia like Elaine Dimopoulos has done, and I'm sold! I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of this book and see if it lives up to the very high expectations that I have for it.

What Are You Waiting On...

Are you like me and waiting on Material Girls or are you waiting on another book (or books)? Please feel free to let me know in the comments or leave a link to your Waiting on Wednesday posts. I'd love to know what everyone is planning to read in the upcoming months!

    1. Oh good! I was hoping on getting an ARC so I didn't really pay attention to reviews. But I've been declined on both NG and EW so I'll look at a few. I can't wait to see what you think of it! :)

I took sewing in high school! I was awful. :( This book sounds so interesting though. I'm adding this book to GR now.

  4. I was pretty bad during eighth grade sewing, but I honestly think it was because the teacher wasn't patient enough to deal with a bunch of beginners. I was pretty good in ninth through twelfth grade, and ended up making some pretty cool things.

I hope you enjoy it, Amber! :)
