This week/weekend, I'm yet again reading a few books, and one of them is the upcoming YA thriller, The Last Good Day of the Year by Jessica Warman. It's the second book about a kidnapping that I've read this year. I'm not too far in, and the last page I actually read was page 56, which is a transcript of an interview.
Detective Wyatt: So did you see him drinking?
Helen Handley: It was New Year's. Everybody was drinking. But Stevie went to bed after dinner. He was in bed before the ball dropped.
DET: Why was he so tired, Helen?
HH: He's been under a lot of stress. He hasn't been on a good schedule lately.
DET: Why has he been under so much stress?
HH: You know why.
DET: I want to hear it from you.
Ooh, cliffhanger! ;) I'm interested in The Last Good Day of The Year. It sounds so....creepy.
ReplyDeleteYou know me... I don't like to spoil things, so I left out the last part of the interview (even though it still doesn't give much away).
ReplyDeleteIt's been slightly creepy so far, but still very accessible. I guess because it's a contemporary thriller. Who knows. It's not as intense as I was thinking it would be, so it's a good intro to the genre for me.
Yeah, I don't blame you. :)
ReplyDeleteContemporary's nice, I could (probably) never read a full on thriller, I'd get nightmares or paranoid or something. Lol. Aw, well hopefully it gets a bit more intense.
Spoiling is just no fun!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I could or not. I've never really tried to read full on thriller, but this one is heating up.
Such an intriguing 56! I want to hear it now too!
ReplyDeleteLooks like my kind of read!
I added you to the Linky! Happy weekend!
Thanks, Freda! It's definitely not a "me read," but I am really enjoying it. It could definitely be one that both teens and adults love.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I always either post too early or too late. Oops.
