Waiting On...
Author: Veronica Roth
Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books
Publication Date: January 17, 2017
On a planet where violence and vengeance rule, in a galaxy where some are favored by fate, everyone develops a currentgift, a unique power meant to shape the future. While most benefit from their currentgifts, Akos and Cyra do not — their gifts make them vulnerable to others’ control. Can they reclaim their gifts, their fates, and their lives, and reset the balance of power in this world?
Cyra is the sister of the brutal tyrant who rules the Shotet people. Cyra’s currentgift gives her pain and power — something her brother exploits, using her to torture his enemies. But Cyra is much more than just a blade in her brother’s hand: she is resilient, quick on her feet, and smarter than he knows.
Akos is from the peace-loving nation of Thuve, and his loyalty to his family is limitless. Though protected by his unusual currentgift, once Akos and his brother are captured by enemy Shotet soldiers, Akos is desperate to get his brother out alive — no matter what the cost. When Akos is thrust into Cyra’s world, the enmity between their countries and families seems insurmountable. They must decide to help each other to survive — or to destroy one another.
Why I'm Waiting...
Before I started my book blog, I binge read Veronica Roth's Divergent trilogy in just a few days. Unlike a lot of people, I enjoyed most everything about all three books, including the ending. The book's were just something new and exciting for me. The writing caught me off guard, and I really thought that everything was well planned.
I'm so excited that there's finally a title, synopsis, and cover for Veronica's upcoming book, Carve the Mark. I feel like I've been waiting years and years for this. I've even had this on my TBR on Goodreads since the day it was announced that Ms. Roth was working on something new. Now that I finally know more about the book, I really can't wait. That synopsis is literally everything that I could want from a book, and I can't wait to see this new world that Veronica has created.
What Are You Waiting On...
I realize that a lot of people are probably looking forward to Carve the Mark, so if you are, let me know in the comments so we can fangirl and impatiently wait together. But if you aren't looking forward to Veronica Roth's upcoming book, feel free to let me know what books you are waiting on. And as always, bloggers should feel free to leave a link to any Waiting on Wednesday posts from this week so I can check them out and add even more books to my TBR!
