Poll: E-Readers

I posted a poll about ARC reviews and when people like seeing them not too long ago on the blog, and I found that I really enjoyed the experience. It was fun to look at the statistics, but also to read everyone's comments on the original post and on the results post.

As a result, I'm introducing polls as an every-once-in-a-while feature. It's always fun to interact with other bloggers, and it's even more fun for me to interact with my followers and listen to what they have to say.

This poll is all about e-readers. Many of you might remember that I bought my first e-reader (Kindle Fire HD 7) in December, and I really like it. I use it to read my e-ARCs, but I also love that I'm able to use it on the go to check email or check in with my blog.

So now I want to hear from you! I'm sure that many of you have some sort of an e-reading device, so now's the chance to let the world know what one you like the most. I tried to include as many options as I could because I realize that each company makes different e-readers. I also included an other option in case I didn't list your favorite. Feel free to leave a comment to let me and everyone else why you prefer your chosen device.

I'll check in on the poll (and the comments) every now and then, and then I will give everyone an update.

What e-reader do you prefer?

Kindle Paperwhite
Kindle Fire HD
Kindle Voyage
Other Kindle e-reader
Nook GlowLight
Samsung Galaxy Tab Nook
Other Nook e-reader
iPad/iPad Air/iPad Mini
Kobo
Smart Phone

I'm going with Kindle Paperwhite. I have a Kindle 4 and I really want to renew it and get a Paperwhite, because the led light is just so practical :)

  2. I read on my iPod Touch, my smartphone and my aunt's Samsung Galaxy Tab and I love that I can get any book I want in them, without having to worry that they are gonna weigh a lot in my bag!

I love my Kindle Paperwhite but also read on my phone a ton.

  4. I use a Kindle Fire HD, and sometimes my phone if my Kindle's not with me. I'd really like a Kindle Paperweight sometime soon, though. :)

  5. I just have a regular Kindle, and I LOVE IT. I can read a ton of eARCs on it :) OH and sometimes library books :)

  6. I bought myself a Kindle Paperwhite for my birthday last year, and it was one of my best ideas ever! :D It's really easy to use, light, and there's that e-Ink technology that gives you the impression it's not a screen you're looking at. It looks like a book page and therefore your eyes don't get tired.

  7. I have a Kindle Fire HDX- it's much faster than my old 2013 Fire HD. I'm using it right now to comment- I love using it to browse blogs and read my ebooks.

  8. I have the new Kindle Fire HD 7, and while I like it, it crashes a lot. I'll definitely look more into things if I ever buy another, but it's good to know that the HDX is good for a lot more than just e-reading. :)

  9. I've heard amazing things about that one, and I would have bought it, but I really wanted the tablet capabilities more. It's on the top of my list if I ever want an e-reader just for reading.

  10. That's all I really use mine for - eARCs. I still haven't bought a single e-book from Amazon yet. Oops.

  11. I used to try to read on my iPod touch, but it was so small! I'd have a hard time reading on a phone.

  12. I definitely need to check the Paperwhite out. It seems like I messed up when I bought my Fire HD.

  13. I used to read on my iPod touch, but I HATED it. It was too hard to see everything, and I don't think I'd go back to it.

How is the Galaxy Tab? I saw it the other day at the Sprint store, and it looked nice, but I just don't know anyone who has one.

  14. Okay. I'm glad to see so many people dig the Paperwhite. It seems like it definitely lives up to all the hype.

  15. I love using my iPad mini to read on. I notice that I can read faster on it. :)

  16. Yeah, my old Fire HD did the same thing! The HDX has only crashed twice, and it's a refurbished version. I'm very happy with it.

  17. I love my kindle paperwhite, it's just so convenient (and the backlit page is wonderful, it doesn't feel like you're reading a screen like an iPad does) I was trying to read a real book in a slightly dark room yesterday and my booklight just annoyed me :(

  18. That's what I originally wanted because I am a huge fan of Apple products. I think I may still eventually get an iPad or iPad mini just because the battery life is amazing and there is just so much you can do on them.

  19. Oh wow! That's amazing.

Mine has shut off by itself a few times, and the apps and books haven't opened, but a restart usually fixes it. It's still annoying though.

  20. Okay... now I'm definitely wishing I would have went with the Paperwhite. Everyone loves it.

I don't even have a book light. I used to, but I hated how it damaged my books.

  21. I used to hate e-readers until I bought one! Now I always use my Kindle Fire HD 6. I didn't buy the 7 because the 6 was on a great sale a few months ago. Now I love it!

  22. I LOVE my Kindle Paperwhite! Doesn't feel like I'm reading from a screen at all (it has a wonderful backlight) and it's just. So. Cute <3 I honestly don't mind reading on my phone either (convenience, yo) but I'd still say my first preference is my Paperwhite.

  23. I definitely think that the Paperwhite will be my next e-reader then. Everyone just raves about it.

I think if I had a smartphone, I would read on it for convenience, but my iPod was just not the thing for it. lol

  24. I almost bought the 6, but Best Buy had the 7 on sale for just a few dollars more, so I went with that one. I really like it, and the fact that I can play stupid games to entertain myself when I'm not reading, but the screen is just so bright. I even keep it on the dimmest setting. lol

But it is a really nice device. It's pretty much my second computer. lol

  25. I just adore my Paperwhite and I recommend it everyone thinking about getting an E-reader. I used to have a Kindle keyboard but it was aready third-hand when I got it and my hubby agreed to buy me a brand new one after he had a little win on the horses. I chose the Paperwhite as it listed the books with their covers making it easier to find the book you want and the screen itself is more like reading an actual book rather than looking like a screen but the main reason for choosing it was for the wonderful light for reading in low light levels. My hubby hates it when I read physical books as I need to read them with the light on at night and it keeps him from sleeping properly so the Paperwhite allows me to read in the dark with minimal light, and that means more sleep for Bobby...... happy husband, happy wife!

  26. Kindle Fire! I thought I wouldn't like it, because I did enjoy the regular Kindle, but I loooove it. It's so easy, because if I am reading and want to update Goodreads, or tweet something or someone about a book, it is so simple! Or if I want to look up info about an author, or a series while I am reading, it is just so convenient. I think I'd be lost without it!

  27. Oh. I didn't know the Paperwhite showed book covers. I just figured that it would show the title and author like any other regular e-reader.

I'm still a big fan of reading printed books, but I will admit that my Fire comes in handy from time to time. I keep a few different books on it at a time just in case I get bored or DNF a book.

  28. I really like my Fire too. It's just so convenient to be able to go from an e-reader to a tablet instantly. And I kind of play games on mine too, so it's good for entertainment.
