For this week's installation of Waiting on Wednesday, I am focusing on the sequel to The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. I recently read The 5th Wave, and I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed it. I was so captivated by the entire book. There are so many great characters and I loved reading about their experiences while dealing with the alien invasion. I just didn't want the book to end.
When I read The 5th Wave, I was aware that the release date of the sequel was not too far away. I honestly feel like I couldn't have planned reading it at a better time because of that. The book and its events will still be fresh in my memory when I open The Infinite Sea for the first time.
The Infinite Sea (The 5th Wave #2) is due to hit stores on September 16, 2014. It's so close, but still so far away.
The hugely anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestselling The 5th Wave.
For Cassie Sullivan and the rest of Earth’s remaining human survivors, the situation was already desperate when the 5th Wave hit. It’s about to get worse.
No one yet knows the depths to which Earth’s conquerors—the Others—will sink in order to rid the Earth of the human infestation, nor have they guessed the heights to which the human spirit can reach. Characters introduced in Book One will come to the fore—and others will face the ultimate test.
Readers will watch in awe as the Others give their answer to Cassie’s defiance.
When I perused the August calendar I saw nothing that caught my eye for the month :( September, October, November, however are a different story! That's when it all goes done. I'm dying to read Stievater's Blue Lily, Lily Blue!
ReplyDeleteJess,
ReplyDeleteYeah... August kind of is a bust for books, except for Lola and the Boy Next Door. I had two ARCs for August books and ended up hating both of them.
Fall and winter do look like good times to release books though. I'm sure I will do a lot of damage to my bank account soon enough.
I loved The 5th Wave! But, of course, I read the book a year ago so it is definitely not fresh in my memory! But I'm still looking forward to this book!
ReplyDeleteGreat pick!
Here's my WoW
Jessica,
ReplyDeleteI was on the fence about it for a while before I finally decided to read it. I'm so glad I did.
I heard so much about the 5th Wave and hope to read it soon. Nice to know there's a sequel to it. :) The good thing about being behind on books is series are usually finished by the time I get to them--then if I like them, I don't have to wait.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, I know what you mean. I love binge reading a series after it's been published. I waited years before finally reading all the Harry Potter books, and now I'm binge reading the released books in The Lunar Chronicles. Being impatient has its benefits as long as no one spoils the books. :)
ReplyDeleteOMG!! i need this book so bad! I love this series!
ReplyDeleteI was actually shocked by how much I liked The 5th Wave. It was the first time I read a post-apocalyptic/scifi book, and I loved it.
DeleteI pre-ordered The Infinite Sea the other day, actually. I just wish that Amazon would ship it so I could get it on release day, but they always ship my pre-orders on release day. Oh well. I will definitely be ripping that box open when I see it. :)
