Top Ten Tuesday (11)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly list-making meme that is hosted by the ladies over at the blog, The Broke and Bookish. For more information on the meme, feel free to visit their page about it.

This week's list is all about re-reading books. For me... I try to read as many new books as I can in a year. I don't re-read much, even though I'd love to re-read so many books. I try to take the time to re-read a few books a year, and I am going to dedicate more time to it in the future.

I'm cheating on this list by including some series and books that I've already re-read. I'm also including some plays.

Top Ten Books I'd Like to Re-Read:

  1. The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
  2. The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins
  3. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
  4. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
  5. The Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth
  6. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
  7. The Crucible by Arthur Miller
  8. A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks
  9. The Selection series by Kiera Cass
  10. Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

  1. Your list is great, I'd love to re-read the Harry Potter and Hunger Games series but as if I've never read them before. I miss that experience!

    1. Thank you, Laura! That would be an amazing experience. I do love picking up on things I missed the first time around, but re-reading anything for me is just as exciting. :)

  2. Love your list Erin! :) I don't reread as much as I want to as well but I'm gonna try and reread more because some books are worth it

    1. I feel you, Kelly. The last time I re-read anything was when I had to teach The Crucible to my tenth graders from student teaching. I re-read it twice for myself that year before I taught and then I re-read it with every class I taught. It still never got boring.

I'm definitely making it a New Year's resolution next year to re-read more books.

    1. Awe. Thank you! I know what you mean. These authors have to stop releasing all these amazing new ones. I want more time to re-read the special ones. lol

  4. You have some great picks! I was going to put Of Mice and Men on mine, but forgot. The Crucible is one of my favorite plays ever! A couple of our choices overlap. :) And there are others of yours I want to read. Here is mine

    1. Of Mice and Men was definitely one of my favorite school reads. I read that, The Great Gatsby, The Crucible, and The Crucible all during my junior year of high school, and that year is one of the best things that ever happened to me. I'd re-read anything from that year.

  5. Oh, I have been wanting to read To Kill a Mockingbird again for so long, and I still cannot seem to find the time! And I still have yet to read the Divergent Trilogy. I need to crawl out of the cave I've been hiding in and read it already! I would really love to reread the Bloodlines Series. Silver Shadows has been out for a couple months now, but I don't want to read it until I read the series over again! Someday, there will be enough time to catch up with all of my TBRs! Great choices girl (:

    1. OMG. Yes... You have to read To Kill a Mockingbird. It's so good. My grandma just gave me a copy of it so I can re-read it. I'd been stealing my sister's or reading it when I subbed at schools. lol

My best friend has read all the books in the Bloodlines series. She says she likes them, but I know they aren't exactly for me.

      Thanks, Morrighan! :)

    2. I haven't read it since my junior year in high school! I have always loved that book though, and after I commented, I went to half.com and ordered a copy! So thank you for reminding me that I really wanted to read it again lol

As for Bloodlines, are you not into the paranormal / urban fantasy genres? The series is phenomenal, with wonderful characters, a really detailed crazy world, and one of the best plot lines I've ever read. You might be surprised to find yourself enjoying them if you gave them a read (:

    3. I always forget about half.com for ordering books! OMG. Now I've to check it out again.

No.. I don't really like paranormal books. I've hated every paranormal book I've ever tried. And I usually stay away from the whole vampire thing. I think it's been way overdone.

    1. I'd want to re-read Allegiant the most. I think I'm one of the few who liked the ending. I think it took a lot of guts, and it made it seem more realistic to me. Not everyone gets a happy ending, you know? I only rated it three stars because of the narration.

A Walk to Remember is such a cute book. I read it thirteen years ago, and I'm long overdue for a re-read.

    2. I feel the same way - I really appreciated Allegiant for those reasons.

    3. Right? I think Roth really established herself as a force to be reckoned with because of the ending. It took guts, and I really think it paid off. Everybody was talking about it.

  8. Oh, I totally forgot about Before I Fall! I really want to reread that one as well. I remember liking it a lot. I still have to read A Walk to Remember, but I've seen the movie, and it was beautiful. Divergent and Harry Potter are also on my list.

    1. I love Before I Fall so much that I'm tempted to buy a used hardcover even though I got a paperback for free. lol

Divergent and Harry Potter are the bomb. They'll always be books that I'll want to read over and over again.
