What I'm Waiting On...

Title: Carry On
Author: Rainbow Rowell
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Publication Date: October 6, 2015
Rainbow Rowell continues to break boundaries with Carry On, an epic fantasy following the triumphs and heartaches of Simon and Baz from her beloved bestseller Fangirl.

Simon Snow just wants to relax and savor his last year at the Watford School of Magicks, but no one will let him. His girlfriend broke up with him, his best friend is a pest, and his mentor keeps trying to hide him away in the mountains where maybe he’ll be safe. Simon can’t even enjoy the fact that his roommate and longtime nemesis is missing, because he can’t stop worrying about the evil git. Plus there are ghosts. And vampires. And actual evil things trying to shut Simon down. When you’re the most powerful magician the world has ever known, you never get to relax and savor anything.

Carry On is a ghost story, a love story, a mystery and a melodrama. It has just as much kissing and talking as you’d expect from a Rainbow Rowell story — but far, far more monsters.

Why I'm Waiting...

I'll admit that I'm more than a little skeptical about this one. Part of me is excited to read another Rainbow Rowell book, but part of me just worries about this one. It was fun reading the little Simon Snow excerpts in Fangirl, but I'm really concerned that I just won't enjoy this one, even though it seems like something I would otherwise enjoy. I guess another thing that also concerns me is how similar this book is to the Harry Potter series.

Oh well... I'll read it come October, and I'll judge it then.

What Are You Waiting On...

Now it's time to hear from you! Are you excited for Carry On by Rainbow Rowell or has another book caught your eye? As always, feel free to tell me what you're waiting for in the comments, and feel free to share links to your own Waiting on Wednesday posts.

I'm feeling the same way about this book! My only hope is that maybe it'll be available as an ARC so we'll have chances to read it that way and decide.

  2. That's what I'm hoping for too. I haven't seen anything about that yet, but if it does become available as an ARC, I'll be putting a request in.

I just don't know how I feel about that cover. It doesn't really look like a RR book cover to me. :(

  3. I agree with all of your thoughts. I am such a huge Rainbow Rowell fan but this one makes me a little hesitant. ANd not a huge fan off the cover at all. But I am still excited for it!

  5. Exactly. I'm excited, but I'm not excited. It's definitely going to be one that I think I'll hope to get an ARC of or borrow it from the library.

  6. I really enjoy her work, but I think I like her adult fiction more. It's just really, really good. :)
