I've been a bad book blogger lately because I've been neglecting my tiny, little blog and surviving off scheduled posts. While I didn't mean to take a hiatus, the break was definitley needed, but I feel like I need to do some explaining as to why I kind of just up and left.
Things haven't been great for me lately. It seems like everything hit me like a ton of bricks, and honestly, life is still throwing those bricks at me. Some of the bricks were good, but a lot of them have been bad, and I'm still trying to recover from them. But hey, I guess that's life, right?
Okay... so first things first. I had a health scare at the beginning of the month after I found a lump in one of my breasts. Even though we don't have a family history of breast cancer, I went to the doctor. Luckily everything is good, but finding something in your body that could be cancerous really takes a lot out of you. I know now to keep a better watch out for things like this in the future. I know I'm young and that a lot of you are young, but I caution you all to take the time to check for these things. This was definitely a learning experience for me, but one that I know will stick with me for the rest of my life.
The other crazy thing that happened was losing my cell phone to an ugly, watery death. But honestly, this story is kind of funny.
I was sweeping the bathroom floor, and in a freak accident, the handle of the broom hit my hip pocket and sent my cell phone flying into the air. Where did it land? The freaking toilet! Just my luck! Luckily it was an old dumb phone, but the battle to try to get a new one was enough to last a lifetime.
Even though I was eligible for an upgrade, Sprint refused to give it to me. All I wanted was to leave my parents' plan and take my number and service to a new line. But because one of Sprint's incompetent employees decided years ago to create an account for me without my permission, they denied me. They told me that they could set up a brand new account, but I was smart enough to know that meant paying full price for a phone. Um, no! So after the lady at the Sprint store tried to dupe me but failed, I left Sprint and finally got an iPhone SE with Verizon. It was a small victory in the month of June for me, but a nice upgrade to my life.
The phone only cost me a dollar, but honestly, I'm so happy with it. I know I need to be extremely careful because I only got the 16GB version, but I think I can make it work for two years. I back up all my pictures to my computer, so I can always delete them. But seriously... any advice on surviving on a phone wth a limited memory would be extremely helpful!
I've also been applying for jobs like crazy, and I even had an interview. I haven't heard back, but chances are that I won't get this job. It's not the news that I wanted, but I'm still looking and determined that I will find the right teaching job soon.
A few more pieces of bad news were handed to me this week, one of them being that a very important piece of mail of mine was never delivered. Now I'm fighting with the state, but I'm hoping that everything works out like they've assured me that it will.
While all of this has been going on, I have been reading... slowly but surely. I'm hoping to get a few reviews up soon, but for right now, I'm enjoying just reading. and taking things day by day. I've read a few backlist books, and even a few recent releases. Of course I will have some ARC reviews coming up in the next few months, so be sure to look out for them.
So... I'm hoping that I won't abandon you guys any more. I'm working on blog posts and ideas, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the summer and my two year blogiversary next month. I'll probably be taking a weekend away for the Fourth of July, but honestly, I need it.
